Back for our third year! inov8 offers interactive, customized workshops with the newest technology tools to meet your school, parent group or organization’s needs. We offer both half-day and full-day workshops.

This series aims to:
- Empower parents, teachers, school-based professionals, and paraprofessionals with information and knowledge of assistive technology and mobile learning in order to help their child at home and in school;
- Provide parents with innovative, research-driven best practices in the area of special education.
Our New Workshops for 2012/2013!
1. Get organized with the iPad! A Productivity Workshop
Description:
Are you a student interested in becoming more productive and more organized with the use of new technologies? Are you wondering how to take better notes in class or to learn new ways of retaining information? Or are you a teacher who is interested in teaching with productivity apps or other technology tools to maximize your students’ learning potential?
inov8 Educational Consulting invites participants to explore how to maximize productivity with the iPad. We will provide an overview of several apps as well as free technology tools available for the purposes of notetaking, research, annotation, retention of information and organization. Learn how the iPad can have a significant and game-changing impact on you or your students’ productivity.
App examples covered in this workshop: Evernote, Paperport Notes, Doceri, and more.
Audience:
This workshop can be geared towards two audiences:
- Teachers (focus on pedagogical applications and impact on teaching with the use of productivity apps and tools in the classroom)
- High school, college students (focus on use of productivity apps and tools for the classroom)
2. Proloquo2Go: An Introduction
Description:
An invitation to all individuals, schools and families who would like to begin using Proloquo2Go 2.0 for the purposes of augmentative and alternative communication.
Proloquo2Go is a highly effective, highly recommended and research-based app for augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) on the iPod or iPad. inov8 is a Canadian Resource Centre for this app and offer hands-on, comprehensive training so that participants can start using the app the next day!
Audience:
Teachers, therapists, and families who are new users of Proloquo2Go 2.0.
3. What’s New with Proloquo2Go 2.0
Description:
Proloquo2Go has been updated this summer to version 2.0. The app received a complete overhaul and there are many new functionality features. Ensure that your staff, teachers or families have the updated information with our comprehensive training. Receive all of the information on the new features and updates, as well as detailed hands-on training on the new version.
Audience:
Teachers, therapists, families who are past users of Proloquo2Go 1.8.
4. Apps for Individuals* with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Description:
Interested in discovering new and innovative apps that are available for individuals with ASD and their families? In this interactive workshop we discuss and demonstrate the newest and most effective new apps in the areas of behavioral intervention, social skills, language, and literacy. We also discuss a practical approach for choosing apps based on the needs of the individual, so that families, teachers and therapists are well prepared to find effective apps.
Audience:
Teachers, therapists, and families who are interested in using the iPad for therapy and educational purposes.
*Note: This workshop can be customized to address the needs of children, adolescents or adults.
5. Apps for Emerging Literacy and Numeracy
Description:
This workshop will examine innovative apps that encourage both a phonetic and visual approach to reading, as well as emerging numeracy for young children (ages 3-6).
Audience:
- Families with young children
- Early childhood and daycare educators
- Organizations that provide early intervention services
