The iPad is getting increased recognition as a therapeutic device for children with special needs. While specialized apps on the iPad do not replace speech and language therapy, more and more parents and professionals are discovering the power of Apple technology when it comes to language development and communication skills for their children. The MIT Media Lab is also exploring research in this area.
